Zachary White is the Music Teacher at Warren T. Jackson Elementary School in Atlanta, GA. He teaches general music, is the conductor of the Jackson Chorus, directs the musical theatre productions, and is the team leader for the Connections Team. Mr. White serves as the Communication Ambassador (Webmaster) for Jackson Elementary. He is the recipient of the 2012 Jackson Excellence in Teaching Award Grant and was named the 2013-2014 Warren T. Jackson Elementary School Teacher of the Year. Mr. White was selected to attend the Atlanta Public Schools: Elevating and Celebrating Effective Teachers and Teaching Conference in 2014 & 2015. In 2016, Mr. White was elected to serve on the Jackson Elementary Local School Governance Team and re-elected for a second term in 2019. He served on the APS Superintendent's Teacher Advisory Council from 2016-2021. In 2020, Mr. White was appointed to the Atlanta Public Schools Arts Resource Team. Mr. White holds a Bachelor of Music Education from Jacksonville State University. He is holds a PK-12 Georgia Teaching Certificate in Gifted Education and Music Education. He holds a level 1 Orff-Schulwerk certification and is a Leve 1 & Level 2 Google Certified Educator. He has had the opportunity to work with young musicians from kindergarten to high school. Prior to his tenure at Jackson, Mr. White was the Choral Director at Cooper Middle School in Austell, GA, then Director of Choral Activities at McEachern High School in Powder Springs, GA. His stage direction credits are: Guys and Dolls, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Footloose the Musical, Grease, Meredith Wilson’s The Music Man, School House Rock Live! JR, Seussical JR, Willy Wonka JR, Peter Pan JR, Alice in Wonderland JR, The Lion King JR, Dear Edwina JR, The Little Mermaid JR, Mary Poppins JR, and Annie JR.
Mr. White has served as a Music Director for the Atlanta Children's Theatre Company and Music Specialist for the Power Up STEAM Summer Program. Mr. White is a member of the Warren T. Jackson Parent Teacher Association, The National Association for Music Education, Professional Association of Georgia Educators, Georgia Music Educators Association, American Choral Directors Association, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, and Phi Delta Kappa.
